Die Stadt ist wundersch\u00f6n am gleichnamigen Golf gelegen. Ein Bummel durch die freundlich wirkende Altstadt ist selbst bei k\u00fchlem Regenwetter lohnenswert. Bekanntheit erlangte die Kleinstadt in den 1930er Jahren in Verbindung mit den Auseinandersetzungen innerhalb New Yorker Mafiabanden, bei denen auch ein gewisser <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Al Capone (\u00f6ffnet in neuem Tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Al_Capone\" target=\"_blank\">Al Capone<\/a> eine Rolle gespielt haben soll. Zur damaligen Zeit entbrannte ein erbitterter Machtkampf innerhalb der New Yorker Mafia, der zahlreiche Todesopfer forderte. Da einige der Kontrahenten aus der Stadt Castellamare del Golfo stammten, gingen die Auseinandersetzungen als <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (\u00f6ffnet in neuem Tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Krieg_von_Castellammare\" target=\"_blank\">Krieg von Castellamare<\/a><\/em> in die Annalen der Kriminalgeschichte ein. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure
