Kilometer um Kilometer fahren wir durch eine flache Landschaft ohne gro\u00dfen Baumbestand. Kaum \u00fcberqueren wir die Grenze nach Finnland erstrecken sich vor uns unendlich wirkende W\u00e4lder. Stundenlang fahren wir auf schnurgeraden Stra\u00dfen durch ein Meer aus B\u00e4umen, das von Seen unterschiedlicher Gr\u00f6\u00dfe hier und da unterbrochen wird. K\u00fchler ist es geworden und in der Abendd\u00e4mmerung kommen unsere gr\u00f6\u00dften Feinde: Schnaken in allen erdenklichen Gr\u00f6\u00dfen. Und nicht einzeln, sondern in Scharen, wie die Plagen der Apokalypse. Wir fl\u00fcchten ins Auto und betrachten das Fliegengewimmel durch die Windschutzscheibe. Birkenrinde an den oft vorhandenen Feuerstellen zu verqualmen bietet nur rudiment\u00e4ren Schutz. Ohne Moskitohut und Repellent f\u00fchlen wir uns den fliegenden Qu\u00e4lgeistern hilflos ausgeliefert. Aber es gibt auch Orte, an denen sie nicht so zahlreich sind und in der Nacht, obgleich noch hell, sind sie dann meistens verschwunden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img
